National Library Day is an initiative of the Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh and supported by British Council. The objective of National Library Day is to create a positive perception towards libraries in communities and make them more accessible, inclusive, inviting and useful in everyone’s life.
Beatnik was commissioned by British Council Bangladesh to design the visual identity of National Library Day which is celebrated on February 5 of every year starting from 2018 in Bangladesh.
In short, this is a day of celebrating library.
The logo mark is designed by combining three key elements of the National Library Day. The Book is the symbol of knowledge and the building block of Library. The Water Lily is a part of the national symbol of Bangladesh & the national flower. The third element represents The Celebration through the diverging firework shape.
The visual signature for National Library Day is the picture of a human hand in different gestures. The reason for using this is a picture of a hand is independent of age, sex, race, and educational qualification.
It also denotes the essence of the campaign which is to bring libraries close to “hand’s reach”.
